Kylie Lip Kit Review — Candy K

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I’m so excited to finally be feeling better so I can enjoy what’s left of the summer and get back into blogging! While I’m a little late in the game, I purchased a Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipstick about a month and a half ago. I wanted to wait a little bit before I did a review so I could get some good use out of it and give you my honest opinion!

True Life: I’m an Essie virgin.

Well, I was until just a few weeks ago. I have always used random, cheap nail polishes throughout my life. And I was fine with that. I never really saw the obsession that all these girls had with Essie or OPI. I could get essentially the same shade polish by a different brand for a few bucks cheaper. That was my mentality until I was searching for a polish to wear with my brightly colored Lilly Pulitzer dress. (The dress I got at the Lilly Warehouse sale last year. Check out my post about it here!) I knew I couldn’t choose a bright polish because it would be way too overwhelming with the fluorescent pinks and greens of my dress. I wanted to get a navy colored polish to balance everything out, and because there was a touch of navy in the dress.

As I was strolling around Ulta, I happened to come across the Essie section. Once again, I thought, “Why spend $8 on a bottle of nail polish when I could get a bottle for $4 in the other aisle?” I kept looking to find navy in other brands but couldn’t find a shade I liked. I made my way back to the Essie aisle and I saw exactly the color I was looking for. “After School Boy Blazer” to be exact. I reluctantly picked it up, falling into the Essie trap, and decided to purchase it. I happened to have a coupon that day, so it came out to be a good deal. (I’m always searching for bargains!) Right when I got home I opened the bottle and lightly applied a coat to my left index finger. That was when I lost my Essie virginity. I can honestly say that this polish went on smoother than any nail polish I’ve ever had. It dried very quickly, which is great for a girl on the go! Who has time to wait a half an hour for their nail polish to dry?! I applied two thin coats to get exactly the shade I wanted and voila, I found the perfect color to match my dress!

I know a lot of people look forward to the bright nail polishes for summer, but, in my opinion, I would rather wear bright clothes with a more neutral colored nail polish. That’s why I love this Essie shade. Navy is one of my favorite colors, partly because of it’s neutrality; I can wear this shade with essentially any color outfit.

I am very proud to share this moment with you guys and I am very excited to purchase my next bottle of Essie! Any recommendations?

xx Emily

Note: I am in no way affiliated with Essie. These are all of my own experiences and opinions about their product.

40 Beauty Questions Tag!

Hey everyone! I’ve seen some of my favorite Youtubers do tag videos but I thought it might be fun to do a tag blog post so you can get to learn a little more about me! Let me know what you think!

40 Beauty Questions Tag

SKINCARE
How many times do you wash your face daily?

  • I wash my face twice a day! Once in the morning when I wake up and then right before I go to bed.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)

  • Right now my face is pretty dry because it’s winter, but usually it’s pretty normal!

What is your current facial wash?

Do you exfoliate?

  • I do not exfoliate.

What brand do you use?

  • Since I don’t exfoliate, I don’t have a brand I use but if anyone can recommend one I can try it! :)

What moisturizer do you use?

  • I’ve been using Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer (can ya tell I love using Clean and Clear products?!) on my face for years and I can’t say enough good things about it! It’s so great and definitely one of my essential products!

Do you have freckles?

  • No I don’t, but I wish I had some on my face! I think they’re adorable.

Do you use eye cream?

  • Nope!

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?

  • Yes, I unfortunately do, but I use several products to help prevent and treat it to keep my face nice and clear!

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?

  • I have before, but not anymore!

MAKE-UP
What foundation do you use?

  • I actually don’t use foundation! Shocker, right? I use Maybelline BB Cream in the shade “light to medium” because it’s not as heavy as foundation and it also moisturizes my face!

How about concealer?

Do you know your undertone color?

  • I don’t but I’ve always wondered!

What do you think of fake eyelashes?

  • Personally, I’ve never used them and I don’t plan on using them. I think it’s too much of a hassle; it’s so much easier to just put on some mascara and embrace my natural lashes!

Did you know that you are suppose to change your mascara every 3 months?

  • Yes, I did! After 3 months, mine start to dry out and sometimes make my eyes hurt!

What brand of mascara do you use?

Sephora or MAC?

  • That’s a tough one but I have to say MAC!

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?

  • No, I don’t!

What makeup tools do you use in make up application?

  • I’m not sure if brushes count as makeup tools, but I use a brush for my concealer, a brush for my BB cream, a brush for my powder, an eyeshadow brush, and a blush brush. I also have an eyebrow kit so I use the brush in that, and I use an eyelash curler!

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?

  • Nope!

For the face?

  • Nope!

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?

  • I actually don’t use eyeshadow that much, but I LOVE the Naked palettes!

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?

  • I use both! I use a liquid eyeliner for my lids and a pencil for my waterline.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?

  • Not very often!

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?

  • I don’t use them, but I don’t really have anything against them.

Do you use mineral makeup?

  • I’ll occasionally use Bare Minerals products, but not regularly.

What is your favorite lipstick?

  • I don’t really have a specific lipstick that I love. But give me some recommendations!!

How about lipgloss?

What is your favorite blush to use?

  • Just like the lipstick, I like to try different ones, so I don’t really have a favorite! If you have and favorite blushes, let me know!

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?

  • Nope. I always buy it at the store because I like to see it in person before I buy it, especially if I’ve never used the product/color before!

Do you like drugstore makeup?

  • Yeah, actually a lot of the makeup I have is from the drugstore. I think some makeup products are so overpriced and if I find something I really like, I’ll use it!

Do you go to CCO’s? (cosmetic company outlets)

  • Nope!

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?

  • I never have, but now I’m considering it!!

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

  • No, I am very precise and like to do it well.

Name a makeup crime that you hate?

  • I reallllly don’t like when it’s so obvious that people are using a darker foundation or powder on their face and when you can tell that their face and neck/rest of their body are completely different colors. It would look so much better if you just wore a color that matched your skintone!

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?

  • I usually tend to get more neutral eyeshadows, but I do like darker lipsticks/lipglosses.

Which celebrity always has great make up?

  • Lauren Conrad! She is one of my biggest inspirations and I love her makeup! P.S. Happy 28th birthday, girl! Keep being fabulous!

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?

  • I would have to say eyeliner. I don’t feel complete without my eyeliner!

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?

  • Yes!

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?

  • Yes, of course! It’s so important to be self confident and feel pretty no matter what!

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?

  • I love MAC makeup. I think it’s a quality product line and it’s affordable.

What do you think of Makeup?

  • I love it, when it’s used correctly. Personally I don’t use a whole ton of makeup, but I think that if you can apply it in a way to enhance your natural beauty and features, go for it! But I don’t like when people use so much makeup that you can’t even recognize them without it!

Hope you lovely ladies enjoyed this! If you do the same tag, let me know. I’d love to see how you answered all these questions!

Beauty Review: Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in “Bordeaux”

Happy Saturday, everyone! I can’t believe Christmas is in just 4 days! Make sure you look out for my “What I got for Christmas” post later next week!

After watching Sarahbelle93x’s “November 2013 Favorites: Fashion, Beauty, Polishes & More!” video, I decided to try one of the beauty products that she recommended. That product is Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in the color “Bordeaux.” I must say, I am extremely impressed with this affordable lip gloss! I purchased it from Ulta earlier this week and it was on sale for just $3.79 (original price: $7.49)! Luckily, I grabbed the last tube! I was already in the hunt for a new lip gloss for winter and this color is absolutely perfect. It is definitely, like Sarah says in her video, great for the holiday season. The color is a deep purple/red, it is not super sticky, and it lasts throughout the day! It definitely dresses up my outfits a little more, which I really like. I’ve always used lighter lipsticks or lip glosses because I like to look more natural, but after trying this great lip gloss, I will definitely continue to use darker colors because they are very flattering and can spice up any outfit!! I am so glad that Sarahbelle93x recommended this product, and though I purchased it on sale, I do believe that it is worth the $7.49. If you don’t want to spend that much, either check if it’s on sale at your nearest Ulta or use this coupon (hurry up, it expires today!).

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a dark, long-lasting lip gloss, this one is right for you! I would love to hear from anyone who has used this product before or has bought it after reading this post!
